centre for mathematical sciences (ccm)

Since its creation, the University of Madeira tried to be an international forum for research and scientific collaboration, and in order to break the isolation, it sought the production of excellence and international visibility. These objectives led to the creation of CCM (1991), whose first director was Ludwig Paul Ary Evert Streit. Despite the CCM being exclusively created by members of the Mathematics and Physics departments, its activities went beyond these two areas, encompassing various fields of research such as physics, computer science, economics, social sciences, astronomy and others.
